LAST HUMANS IN MOON

We all know tat Sir Neil armstrong & Edwin Aldrin ere the first to walk on moon, Does anyone knows that who were the last men to set foot on moon?

Eugene Cernan & Harrison Schmitt were the last humans to walk on moon on 1972's Apollo 17 mission,......
After them no one has ever set foot on moon

FIRST MAN IN SPACE

Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin was a Soviet pilot and cosmonaut. He was the first human to journey into outer space, when his Vostok spacecraft completed an orbit of the Earth on 12 April 1961.
Gagarin became an international celebrity, and was awarded many medals and titles, including Hero of the Soviet Union, the nation's highest honour. Vostok 1 marked his only spaceflight, but he served as backup crew to the Soyuz 1 mission (which ended in a fatal crash). Gagarin later became deputy training director of the Cosmonaut Training Centre outside Moscow, which was later named after him. Gagarin died in 1968 when the MiG 15 training jet he was piloting crashed.

SPACE MONKEY

Once again in history monkey goes to space. Iranian scientists has successfully launched a monkey into space and returned it safely to Earth on Monday in an apparent move paving the way to manned space flight.
According to AFP, the monkey was launched on Monday to an altitude of 75 miles in the suborbital flight.

SOLAR SYSTEM

Watchout and compare the sizes of planets in our solar system with Earth........

ANDROMEDA

This is a galaxy which is visible from earth and the closest spiral galaxy to our Milkyway. Its approximately 2.5 million light years away from us and there has been some unproofed sayings that aliens which look like humans, exist there.........

NML Cygni

One of the largest stars ever discovered in universe,......Watch over the pic, that yellow ball of fire denotes NML Cygni and a small dot in front of it is our sun,.....Its just a comparision...

DRY ICE IN MARS

Washington: Researchers using NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter see seasonal changes on far-northern Martian sand dunes caused by warming of a winter blanket of frozen carbon dioxide.

Earth has no naturally frozen carbon dioxide, though pieces of manufactured carbon-dioxide ice, called "dry ice," sublime directly from solid to gas on Earth, just as the vast blankets of dry ice do on Mars.

Asteroid belts

Recent research of NASA is of finding existence of life beyond our solar system. This has been going on by observing the Asteroid belts and their thickness which'll reveals us many secrets,.....

GREEN COSMIC RAYS-
Scientists who have helped further our understanding of cosmic phenomena — from gamma-ray pulsars to galaxy formation — have been awarded top prizes from the American Astronomical Society. The following are recipients of the 2013 awards, announced by AAS this week:

Kenneth C. Freeman, an Australian National University astronomer who has studied the structure and evolution of galaxies, won the AAS's top award, the Henry Norris Russell Lectureship, for a "lifetime of seminal contributions" in the field.

"Through his many PhD students and his generous interactions with countless colleagues, his influence on galactic and extragalactic astronomy has extended far beyond his own research," AAS officials said of Freeman.

Asteroid crusher

THIS NEWS MAY SOUND CRAZY BUT A COMPANY IS UNDER THE PROJECT
A new asteroid-mining company launched Tuesday with the goal of helping humanity expand across the solar system by tapping the vast riches of space rocks.

The new firm, called Deep Space Industries, Inc., announced today (Jan. 22) that it plans to launch a fleet of prospecting spacecraft in 2015, then begin harvesting metals and water from near-Earth asteroids within a decade or so. Such work could make it possible to build and refuel spacecraft far above our planet's surface, thus helping our species get a foothold in the final frontier.

Columbia disaster

Ten years ago, one of the worst space accidents of all time took the lives of seven astronauts when the space shuttle Columbia was destroyed.

The 10th anniversary of the Columbia accident is Friday, Feb. 1, yet the memories for many are still fresh. People all over the world, including those heavily involved in the space program, and some who'd never given it a passing thought, remember where they were when they heard about the disaster.

On Feb. 1, 2003, the shuttle Columbia was returning to Earth after a successful 16-day trip to orbit, where the crew conducted more than 80 science experiments ranging from biology to fluid physics. However, the seemingly healthy orbiter had suffered critical damage during its launch, when foam from the fuel tank's insulation fell off and hit Columbia's wing, tearing a hole in it that later analysis suggested might have been as large as a dinner plate.

First Full moon of 2013

The first full moon of 2013 will light up the night sky tonight (Jan. 26), but did you know it's a full moon of many names?

Full moon names date back to Native American tribes of a few hundred years ago who lived in what is now the northern and eastern United States. Those tribes kept track of the seasons by giving distinctive names to each recurring full moon. Their names were applied to the entire month in which each occurred.

There were some variations in the moon names, but, in general, the same ones were used throughout the Algonquin tribes from New England on west to Lake Superior. European settlers followed their own customs and created some of their own names. Since the lunar (or "synodic") month is roughly 29.5 days in length on average, the dates of the full moon shift from year to year.

Guiness record travel in balloon over Antartica

Flying high over Antarctica, a NASA long duration balloon has broken the record for longest flight by a balloon of its size.  The record-breaking balloon, carrying the Super Trans-Iron Galactic Element Recorder (Super-TIGER) experiment, has been afloat for 46 days and is on its third orbit around the South Pole.

First Laser transmission to moon

ULTIMATE HIGH ART OF TRANSMISSION

Using a well-timed laser, NASA scientists have beamed a picture of Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece, the Mona Lisa, to a powerful spacecraft orbiting the moon, marking a first in laser communication.

The laser signal, fired from an installation in Maryland, beamed the Mona Lisa to the moon to be received 240,000 miles (384,400 km) away by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, which has been orbiting the moon since 2009. The Mona Lisa transmission, NASA scientists said, is a major advance in laser communication for interplanetary spacecraft.

"This is the first time anyone has achieved one-way laser communication at planetary distances," David Smith, a researcher working with the LRO's Lunar Orbiter Laser Altimeter — which received the Mona Lisa message — said in a statement. "In the near future, this type of simple laser communication might serve as a backup for the radio communication that satellites use. In the more distance future, it may allow communication at higher data rates than present radio links can provide."

MILLION DEGREE SOLAR ATMOSPHERE-

SUPERMASSIVE BLACKHOLES

Black holes are gigantic cosmic monsters, exotic objects whose gravity is so strong that not even light can escape their clutches.
Black holes come in a wide variety of forms, from small stellar-mass bodies to the supermassive beasts that reside at the hearts of galaxies. They are gigantic beasts such that they can even engulf a planet within it, But humans still have no proper explanation and proof for these.....
